Pendahuluan
Kenalkah dengan pembalap-pembalap di atas?  Berikut akan dibahas biografi dari salah satu pembalap tersebut yaitu: Ayrton Senna. Biografi adalah salah satu jenis text recount . Teks ini menceritakan rentetan kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi di waktu lampau, yang mempunyai struktur teks sebagai berikut: orientation, event, dan re-orientation. Dalam materi ini juga akan dibahas verb II yang digunakan dalam recount text, degree of comparison, dan ejaan serta  penulisan recount yang benar.

Struktur teks recount adalah sebagai berikut:

Orientation:
(Pendahuluan)

Memberikan informasi  tentang apa, siapa, di mana dan kapan (to inform about  who, what, where, when)

Series of Events
(Laporan rentetan peristiwa)

Peristiwa, kegiatan yang terjadi, yang biasanya disampaikan secara berurut (cronological activities in sequences, the event that happened in the past)
Re-orientation (Penutup) & Personal feeling/comments (Komentar pribadi)

Yang merangkum rentetan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan; ungkapan penilaian (jika ada).

Recount is a text which has social function (Tujuan komunikatif teks) to retell events for the purpose of informing or entertaining (melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan dengan memberitakan atau menghibur).

Biograpical recount is a kind of recount text.
The purpose of a biographical recount is to inform readers by retelling past events and achievement in a person’s life. It presents the events chronologically (in order in which they happened)
Parts of a biographical recount is :
-      Part 1 : Orientation
It gives the reader the background information as to why this person in noteworthy and should have a biography written about him. The opening paragraph should answer the questions : Who, what, where, when and how

Part 2 : Series of events
It presents a series events, usually told in a chronological order. Here the writer might refer to a certain time line.
Part 3 : Reorientation
It consists of a type of conclusion with a comment on the contribution this person has made or a summary and evaluation of the person’s achievements.
AYRTON SENNA

Some say he was genius, others call him arrogant. What is certainly true is Ayrton Da Silva Senna was the fastest man in motor racing. He won the World Championship in 1988 and 1990 and he has won more than twenty Grand Prix altogether.
Senna was born on 21th March 1960, in Brazil. Senna was a little taller than most other racing drivers. He was good-looking, with short, wavy, dark hair and dark brown eyes.
He has an older sister and a younger brother. His parents lived in a large house. It is in the north of Sao Paolo but Senna himself lived in Monaco, Europe.
As  far as hobbies go, he liked flying model planes. He also enjoyed jet-skiing on water and flying with his father over the castle country which his family owns in Brazil.
What motivated him to win? “Driving doesn’t seem like a job. I started driving when I was four. I love feeling the power of the engines and the wind in my face. When I drive, I experience new sensations. That is my motivation.”

Comparison Degree
One of the language features of a recount text is degrees of comparison.
In general you may use “..er” to make a comparative degree of short adjectives. For longer adjective you can use “more”. You may use “..est” for superlative degrees of shorts adjectives. For longer ones you can use “ most”. The word “the” is used for superlatives. The explanation in the table below may help you.
